The Doctrines and Discipline
Of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South
Gilbert T. Rowe, Editor - Curtis B. Haley, Assistant
In 1844, the Methodist Episcopal Church was in turmoil as a result of the slavery issue. At this point a group broke away and formed the Methodist Episcopal Church, South. In 1939 the two groups recombined to eventually form the United Methodist Church.
This is the book of the Doctrines and Discipline of a Christian denomination that no longer exists, but at one time had great influence in the South.
Condition: I can only describe the condition as fair.
The first three or four pages are tattered and a very few pages have slight edge tears at the top, but all pages are still intact. The first 28 pages are not as strongly attached as the others. No markings except for the name of the owner in pencil. Soil on two pages. Handling wear to the cover.
